Hi guys,

Just thought id try and get an answer before I take it into the garage.

Got disks and pads replaced about a month ago. Now when I apply the brakes my car makes a light 'wheeze' sound. Its very quite. Not specific to either side and it is only when i apply the brakes. I thought at first it was just because they were new but its getting annoying.

The car stays in a straight line while braking and the brake pedal is tight.

No idea.

Thanks

Can you elaborate more on a wheeze sound?

Is there any vibration?

Have you had grooved discs put on in place of plain discs?

No vibrating. Just drives and stops normally.

The noise is strange, you can barely hear it above the radio. Its like a high pitch squeal when i touch the brakes.

The disks are vented but with a plain smooth surface.

Thanks for the reply :)

I've had this before with new brakes and pads, but I'm not sure how it lasted.

You could try going out and doing a few repeated hard stops from high speed, see if it beds the pads in a bit better.

During start stop driving the sound clears up after about 15 mins. But coming off the motorway you'd hear it on the slip road.

Ill check it in and report back.

Copperslip applied sparingly on the back surface of the pads where the pistons touch them, plus on any surfaces where the backing plate edges contact caliper or caliper/pad retaining bracket can help with issues where the pads are squealing.

Care always needs to be taken that you don't get any of it on the pad material itself or the discs!!!!!!
