Crashing Computer - VIDEO ADDED.

UPDATE:

On going problem for a while now, video bellow of what's happening.

http://s854.photobucket.com/albums/ab101/dammgamertag/?action=view&current=dca75323.mp4

Bought all the parts from here, spec is:

Gigabyte h55-ud2h
4 gb corsair ram
antec 300
500gb spinpoint f3
i3 - 530

Nothing has been changed in the bios. all completely standard out the box and connected.
When running any games it will crash, the screen shows a few fuzzy lines then freezes and reboots. it did this without even playing a game a few minutes ago.
Temperature barely rises over 40C on speedfan.

I had that a few years back with a build. Might not be the same issue you have but it was a faulty processor. (brand new out the box as well).

I agree set the ram settings personally, ram can have compatibility issues on default settings , not all brands play perfect on plugin, i'd say set the ram volts to 1.5v manually, leave the timings alone for now, and report back , Screens going fuzzy is an odd crash tbh, i'd expect a BSOD for any usual hardware faults. Post back any info you have thats more specific about your machine, maybe cpu-z screenies , ram timings , voltages from HWmon , anything that can help rule out suspects,

As a rule i'd not suspect a cpu fault in a Gigabyte board, the quality is beyond reproach and the i3 needs no volts to play nice, so auto settings will always manage it fine. So lets rule out the rest

Indeed run mem test, i had a bad pair of ram in my latest build, its common enough, i think i used memtest x86 (the windows variant) not the self-OS version. But after 1000% passes through my ram my second stick had a laundry list of failed blocks. But the first stick was fine,

My only concession on it being a ram fault is that screen fuzzy isnt a typical error result. If your ram bums out bad values from a block your windows box will always BSOD, about 15 different messages are associated with a mem fault in windows all for different operations that were gonna do something with that info from Ram, Screen Fuzzy and aberations that direction are usually associated with Video Card failures... (if using i3 graphics your giga board board should be feeding it with volts fine, this shouldnt be happening) but if its a standalone GFX card make sure the x6 power cable is feeding it at the back of the card.

hi, yeah using the standard graphics onboard. Just made a screen shot of the mem test working with other information you asked for. I'll try up the voltage ina mo. Was playing World of warcraft for around 20 - 25 mins and it happened the last time. It's at random when it happens.

corsair 400watt jobby,
Just turned it off billy. Will wait and see what happens. Should i up the voltage by how much if it's runnning at 1.5v already?

Uping the voltage to 1.6v made no differenc neither did turning the automatic restart off, it still comes up with an odd purple graphics and restarts instantly.

has anyone else got any suggestions what could be the cause? I'm stuck with this problem now not knowing what action to take. Do i return the whole bundle of hardware that i purchased from overclockers?

right, it didn't shut down for a good half hour a moment or two ago. I was only browsing the web. I then turned on world of warcraft and in the space of a minute it shut down.

bump - put a thread in the customer service section. any other suggestions. would much prefer to send the faulty part back than the whole computer.

Dan, you are going to have to start eliminating to find the source of the probelm.

I think you first port of call is your PSU.

Fistly, are you connecting the 4pin ATX12v supplementary PSU cable?

If not, connect it. Otherwise take out both the 4 and 24 pin ATX connectors and inspect the insides.. then refit and test.

Check it's providing adequete and stable voltage:

Read through my guide here:

http://www.huddysworld.co.uk/index.p...ware&Itemid=72

verify the PSU is ok, if it is you can strike that off your list...

Next check your memory:

Use memtest86+ to verify the memory is operative. Try using one memory stick at a time and try the single sticks in different slots. If one stick of memory fails in all slots, then its almost certainly a RAM problem. If the working RAM stick works in one slot but not another, then this is certainly going to be a memory controller problem. This could be CPU or Motherboard depending on the platform.

Check that the memory is set to the correct setting i.e. VDIMM and latency timings. Check the manufacturers website for details.

Lastly, for the moment, look at the system dump and Event Manager for clues. Event manager is often overlooked and under estimated.

(ps - i've used this mobo and cpu on a number of builds for people i know.. never a problem)

Well I'm 1:20:00 into the testing it's done two passes so far and obviously hasn't switched off which is quite weird. Any reason for which it doesn't turn off running memtest but turns off in windows?

what GPU do you have?

PSU: 400W is not much when GPU can take over 200W

ensure you have most up-to-date (non-beta) bios installed
ensure you have most up-to-date drivers installed in correct order, starting with chipset, and reboot after the chipset drivers are installed
do not use drivers from dvd - download from internet
have you most up-to-date version of DirectX runtime installed?

most likely a GPU related issue - is 6 pin power lead attached (at both ends?)

it's the standard onboard with the motherboard. I run the test all night it managed to pass 12 times in total. never restarted once.

Well I've tried to email overclockers and wrote in the customer service section a
Few days ago and no one has replied.
