Brand New Rig: Help with CPU temp

Hello, you may remember me from "Help me build a new gaming rig" and "I just destroyed my CPU" type threads.

Anyway, after that fiasco, I now have my computer up and running and would like you advice on some testing numbers specifically temperatures.

Now, my CPU is an i7-4770k. So, I have Prime95 running along with HWMonitor. I've put it on the most CPU intensive option and have been running it for about 15 minutes. It immediately jumped into the 70s, maxed at 80 and has been floating around the mid to high 70s ever since.
Considering that Prime95 is an utterly unrealistic test (no application stresses a CPU like that) and the max working temp for the CPU is like, 105 I think, can I take this to assume that these temperatures are, at worst "ok"?

I'm sure some of you will be aghast at anything over 50, but I just to know if it's actually damaging.

Lots of factors can determine CPU temperature, just the case can alter results by 10c.

What clocks are you running, CPU cooler and what case do you have?

No overclocking, Hyper412s, HafX, respectively.

Again, not looking to push my system yet, just wanting to make sure it's safe.

Oddly, temperatures have started to drop, now in mid70s.

It is, I double checked. Rooms quite warm though, dunno how much that affects it.
I just want to know whether or not it's dangerous as-is.

Nope not dangerous but i can understand why you are uncomfortable with this. If you are on stock settings, check what the auto motherboard voltage is set to. Many boards i have previously owned gave too much voltage on auto, so might be best to manually set it a bit lower, while keeping it stable.

Haha, your OP reminds me of the Simpsons introduction with Troy's 'You may remember me from such films as' lines. Anyway...

What are your case fans running at when your monitoring these temps?
