Afternoon folks, and please ignore the user name :).
I have installed a new timed extractor fan and it refuses to run.
First thing I did was install an isolator switch with a permanent live as the old one wasn't timed, wired into the pull cord of the shower, not an electric shower.
I have power in both the switched live and the permanent live at the fan, so thought bad neutral. Crawled around attic space and checked all neutrals good.
Took power direct to fan from a socket and fan did not work so I'm assuming faulty unit but before I head back to the suppliers I wanted to throw it out there incase I missed something.
All suggestions appreciated.

Sounds sensible. Mine is wired the same way. All via isolator switch buying going to the fan is live, switch live and neutral. If you have power at live and switched live and neutral working on the rest of circuit does suggest the fan is broken. Have you tried the neutral direct to circuit to exclude an isolator problem?

I can’t think of anything else and not sure what could be tested within the fan unit itself.

Aye done all of that,at this minute the old fan is running of the wiring, bar the permanent live, which I have taped up, so I think it's a trip back to the suppliers.
What I find unusual and why I was second guessing myself, I bought two of them and two not working is not usual. Yes I have tried both.
Thank you for your reply very much appreciated.

Did you put the switched live and perm live in the correct terminals?
When you tested at the socket, did you put a live feed into both terminals on the fan? it wont work with just the 1 live. You could put a link between both lives to test if needs be.
