Breakdown recovery

My friend has broken down, but has no breakdown cover. If she rings the AA / RAC and joins can she call them out straight away? Will they charge more for this?

Owah - just found a section I missed on their website. You get charged an extra fee and don't get the discount. So will likely be ~3x more than it would be usually

Get recovered by a mate, leave the car at home then join and call them out after a few days?

Once the car is at home we won't need to call them out!!

She was very vague about what has gone wrong, just said the was an almighty bang from under the car and now it's a lot lower than it should be... probably best not to drive / tow it in my opinion. Think it needs trailering

St Helens, has to be towed to Netherley in south Liverpool.

If it didn't cost more to call them out if you don't already have cover, why would anyone ever bother buying cover just incase?
