Breaking a phone encryption

Does anyone recon it could be the phone manufacturers (Apple/Google/Sony) etc etc making a device to allow them to do what they want but giving the perception to the public it’s another company making them?

Surely it can’t be legal? So they now promoting that the use of such equipment (if you can make it) to bypass protection is ok to do?

The article is a bit far fetching and the author doesn't really know what they're talking about. They can't even spell respond.

There is nothing to worry about for 99% of consumers.. Nobody has the ability to crack a complex PIN in any reasonable time and as such criminal gangs aren't in the business to wait for personal information whereas a criminal case can have evidence come to light months/years down the line which then aids the case for either party in it. Hence why it's beneficial for law enforcement.

And manufacturers are not promoting any such actions either. They routinely patch bugs and exploits but if you read tech news often then you will know that new exploits are found all the time that were previously unknown to the public.
