brilliant way to spend taxpayer money/ressources. Seriously politicians are completely useless. UK needs a new party that is a little more grounded w/ reality (not talking about musical chairs with crusty old politicians from existing parties - they are all equally worthless). Prince Harry would be a better PM ;), at least we would get a party as we are driven into the ground. Better to burn out than fade away!

Remember last year when the Byron report came out? Think people were pleasantly surprised when a government minister (or Doctor - can't remember) gave an overall thumbs up. This, though seems to be a u-turn and as usual, whatever the subject under scrutiny, exaggerations and stereotypes are used as a focus. Next it'll be you can't read horror story books or watch action films.

well it looks like many games companies have reacted to these ads. Sony is threatening legal action. I say go for it :)

BTW the gov is the UK's biggest ad spender (almost £200m a year) telling you what to do and think. I hope they get a good kick in the rear :D

Im no supporter of this but its obvious that if you have a child who plays games and does nothing else then it cant be good for its health.

Children should be running about and playing outside as well as playing computer games, anyone with half a brain knows this.

Once again the actual truth is simple, dont blame the games blame the PARENTS for allowing them to spend so much time on them.

Oh god. It's a terrible ad, but everyone is over-reacting to it. It's just a "don't be lazy, make sure your child is active" message, and isn't saying video games kill in the slightest.

It's just the latest scaremongering by ignorant people who consider the newest form of entertainment to be "evil". It was the same when action movies were new, it was the same when TV was new, and it was the same when novels were new. Nothing changes.

Eventually gaming will be considered a normal pastime like watching TV, and they'll be whinging about the latest form of entertainment instead, I dunno, holodecks or something. :p

Games can kill but what about walking down a dark alley way at night in a dodgy area, driving on the M25, holding a mobile phone against your head, eating too fast, playing ping pong.... ok maybe not ping pong but you get my drift.
