I'm looking for breathable duvet, one that is artificial rather than goosedown (I've had one in the past and it caused no end of problems with errant feathers migrating through the lining).

Any good suggestions - she likes warm TOG valuesbut I end up cooking. So other than going separate duvets..

Have you thought about a sheep wool duvet? We got one last year and it's surprisingly good. Heavier than down obviously but it's more breathable than artificial.

They are available from the usual places (Dunelm, JL, Amazon etc).

I wouldn't discount the feather duvets just yet! I used to hate feather pillows for the same reason - getting repeatedly stabbed in the face by pointy feather ends while trying to nap isn't the dream.

However, I recently bought some new pillows from john lewis and the casing stops any feathers coming through. They do the same "down proof cover" for duvets. Check out the hungarian goose down range - not cheap but does the trick - and I'm sure some of their other duvets may have the same sort of cover.

a breathable duvet won't stop you cooking it will just mean the sweat evaporates better so your less likely to wake up soaking wet!

If you both require different togs the best bet if separate duvets are not an option is one lower tog duvet and a blanket for her half!

I bought a double sized microfibre duvet from Lidl for a tenner a few months back. It's the nicest duvet I have ever had. Amazing value for money!

I'd certainly go man made again.
