my old media pc which is an athlon xp-m2600 clocked to 2.4ghz on an abit nf7-s v2 with 2gb geil ram used to run a variety of cards, settled on the 7600gs for quite a while. the 7600gs AGP is damn cheapo now so its deffo a good option on a budget.
currently that media pc of mine now uses a x1950pro agp, and the main thing that has allowed me to do is increase the amount of AA i can use in games.
thing is the media pc i use for running a rez of 1360x768, and at that rez it doesnt take a lot of power to get things going. but now the media pc is running on a 1280x1024 screen so its still coping quite well. so depends on what rez your going to game at.
main difference i saw from going to the x1950pro from the 7600gs was that in marvel ultimate alliance i could enable the next generation lighting on the x1950pro and it was playable where on the 7600gs it used to slow down.
all boils down to how much money you want to spend and what sort of rez your going to be gaming at.
40 quid will see you with a 7600gs agp, where as if you spend 100 quid or so you can see you with a x1950pro, even then thats not worth it since ocuk do a 3850 agp for a few quid more than the price of a x1950pro agp.
post a list of games you wish to play and the rez you will be using along with the budget you have to spend and we can sort you out with a good card to suit your needs.
