Need to get new discs and pads fitted to my mk4 Mondeo.

Buying from either CarParts4Less or EuroCarParts (aware same company, but their prices are slightly different), depending on who's got the best price on the day.

Brembo or Bosch? (I discounted Eicher and Pagid already but if I shouldn't then do say so).

Either option coming in around £160 excl fitting.

Nothing wrong with Pagid.
Yeah I thought so too but the mechanic at my local (very good, indy, small) garage is very honest and advised to avoid Eicher and Pagid. Everyone has an opinion of course.

Anyway, theres hardly any price difference between Pagid and the other options.

Car Parts 4 Less
brembo - £170.99
bosch - £154.45
pagid - £153.31

Euro Car Parts
brembo - £177.62
bosch - £164.42
pagid - £165.52

I opted for Bosch when I changed front Discs and Pads on my Octavia vRS. The discs came with a grey coating which I'm not sure is a standard thing now? I've only ever seen bare metal with a bit of oil on them to stop them tarnishing in the box.

After 3 years and 20k of town driving they look fairly new still in the vents, the coating is holding up really well. They seem to brake well and the pads still look quite new in terms of wear.

Mintex discs ?
I think there are often better purchase shops on ebay/amazon now - smaller local distributors/garages making cash on the side, just check you have correctly ID'd the parts;
haven't used cp4l/ecp for consumables/parts for several years now. (often opio oils , fluidautomotive ...)

Cant find correct part for either EBC or Mintex.

Surprisingly though Halfords have the Pagid discs for £83 the pair which is £30-£40 cheaper than ECP or CP4L.

And a new entrant to my list is GSF Car Parts (whose website looks remarkably similar to ECP) who have the Brembo discs and pads for a total of £137 which is £30-£40 less than the other players.

Euro car parts are rarely cheap these days. They wanted over £200 for my car battey, Tanya did it for £95. The markup they make on the public is extortionate, they wanted £120 for a replacement coil pack for my misses old Corsa, I spoke to someone I know who owns a garage and he got the same part through his place for under £60 from euros. I rarely buy from them anymore.

Updated list:

Car Parts 4 Less
brembo - £171
bosch - £154
pagid - £153

Euro Car Parts
brembo - £178
bosch - £164
pagid - £166

GSF Car Parts
brembo - £138

Halfords
pagid - £124

Ford genuine (via ebay seller)
ford - £173

Pureley out of interest, what are ford dealers charging for equivelent OEM suff? I suspect more expensive but It can't hurt to ask your local dealer.

There's a Ford genuine parts seller on ebay and the discs are £126 for the pair and the pads £47 so all in £173 which is around the same price as the Bosch or Brembo at ECP/CP4L.

For a small price difference my initial preference was Bosch or Brembo but now with Halfords selling the Pagid items at £124 that is substantially cheaper than the other options and gives me some headroom to get them fitted at a garage rather than doing it myself.

I’m sure someone on here complained about Pagid pads separating.
@pugheaven maybe?
Yep, I've had two sets and they have literally fallen apart wouldn't touch them with someone elses. Dreadful. This was one of mine, can't find the other which litterally was torn off the metal... one was on my SRT8 and the other of my Xedos... I stick with yellow stuff on fronts on all the other cars... only downside is they can squeak on larger discs when cold... but I know they'll at least last!

Have you tried MTEC discs? I run them on all my cars, never had a problem!
