It occurs to me that this isn't the first time we (Britain/England) have done something like this.

Go back about 500 years, The monarchs of the various European (England included) Kingdoms had a fair degree of autonomy, but because they all (Supposedly) drew their authority from God, they were all ultimately under the Thumb of the Church of Rome.

The original "European Union" if you like (The direct descendent of the Roman Empire)

However, A King called Henry decided that he didn't want to play any more and decided to organise his own "Brexit"

Of course, this withdrawal from the then "Club of Rome" did cause a good deal of anxiety and anger and disruption.

And yet, it was the precurser of what has since been described as the Golden Age

So yes, I am actually feeling quite positive really. :p
