Bricked gpu flashing

I have a 4890 which unfortunately has no voltage control, the card in question is an XFX non reference model and can't find a pencil mod for my card so i was thinking about flashing to the xfx4890 BE model and this gives a little more juice.
So my question is, if i brick it can i just put another gpu in and then flash the bricked one??
If i put a working card in slot 3 in my board and leave bricked card in slot 1 is the flashing procedure the same, atiwinflash -f -p 0

I only have experience from the nvidia side but I have bricked my 780 and successfully unbricked it using a similar method.

However I was told to unplug the power cables from my bricked card whilst I reflashed it.
Also I used Ez3flash which is a little more user friendly, I don't know whether there is an AMD version. Reason I mention it is that you really really don't want to accidentally flash your working card with the wrong bios.

Thanks for the reply, its only a benching card so not too worried. Just need more voltage!
Got 3 options,
1. Try another bios
2. Find datasheet for the voltage controller and a pencil mod may be possible
3. vGPU hardmod, not experienced in this but may have to try as a last resort.
