¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've got an iPod Touch 2nd Gen which suddenly seems to have stopped working. It was on at the time but only on charge, I was not using it when it went wrong.

iTunes does not 'see' it when it's plugged in, and a mains charger also produces nothing on the screen, so I guess the screen could have had it...

It doesn't seem to be the backlight, as I shone a bright torch on the screen and could not see anything so I can safely say that it's not a backlight issue.

The 'Find my iPhone' app was unable to find it also, even though I'm in somewhere where it automatically hooks up to the Wifi:

I'm usually able to locate it if it has wifi access.

So, what can I do to fix this? Would it be work taking it apart and disconnecting the battery at all? It's a pain to take apart so I'd like this to be a last resort really...

FWIW, it was running iOs 4.2.1 (the latest for this model), and it was jailbroken and I had SSH access turned on in Cydia. :)

Thanks.

So reset is not really an option? I would leave it for a day or so to see if it sorts itself out in anyway. Maybe someone else has an answer otherwise a trip to the apple store to ask them - not necessarily get it repaired by them.

I only had music on there and I'm more than happy to reset it if it would get it working.

The fact that it does not even show up in iTunes means I'm unable to reset/restore it back to the factory default settings.

I'm going to try leaving it for a day or 2, it is a little strange how it suddenly stopped working after working perfectly fine since I've had it...

Tried a hard reset?
I haven't, how exactly do I do a hard reset?

I've tried holding down the power and home buttons for 10seconds or so, but even then I didn't get any response.

I did however get an e-mail from MobileMe saying that it was located 5 hours ago at my house, where I left it chilling on a shelf.

I'm at work now, so maybe when I get home it may have suddenly decided to start working again?!
