Ok, I've got a really strange network set up, and I'm trying to get filesharing going, so every computer can access each others files...
I'll try and describe it as best as I can without resorting to MSpaint.
Ignore the full stops:
. . . . . internet --(adsl)-- router --(cat5)-- computer 1 (xp pro)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (192.168.1.1) . . . . . . (192.168.1.3)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (cat5)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (192.168.1.2)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . computer 2 (xp pro - network bridge)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (10.0.0.20)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (BNC)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . ———————————————————————————
. . . . | . . . . . . . . . | . . . . . . . . . . . | . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
comp 3 (NT4). . . comp 4 (xp) . . comp 5 (2k) . . . . . comp 6 (god knows)
. . . . (10.0.0.2) . . . . . (10.0.0.8) . . . . . . . (10.0.0.14) . . . . . . . . . . . . (10.0.0.21)
Computer 3 is acting as a DHCP server for the BNC network. Right now, every computer can access the internet no problem, and computers 2,3,4,5 and 6 can all share files between them. The only problem is, computer 1 cannot access any files on any of the computers apart from itself.
Now, I have a feeling the problem is with the bridge is causing the problem. I've tried hopping onto computer 3 and it can ping 192.168.1.3 fine.
But, when I try pinging computer 3 (10.0.0.2) from computer 1, I get nothing.
Also, computer 1 can see computer 2 in Network Neighbourhood, get when you double click on the icon, I get:
"\\Computer 2 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network path was not found."
I've checked that they are all on the same workgroup...
I've turned off as many firewalls as I can find, and I've run out of things to try.... any suggestions?
