Initially only cooling cpu (Q6600-G0/P35)
Eventually will include chipset cooling on new mobo - not bothered about GPU.

A little help please...

Already ordered:
Thermochill PA120.3
Lian-Li P343B
Danger Den Laing DD12V-D5 Vario Pump

not ordered yet, but looking at:
D-Tek Fuzion block + Accelerator Nozzle Kit
Swiftech MCRES

+

goodness knows what kinda tubing?

also

liquids -
XP+ EXTreme seems nice, but a bit costly. Should I stick to Distilled Water only and avoid the marketing bump?

I'm a bit concerned about algae buildup, and the frequency of cleaning-out the whole system. does the Xtreme contain biocide, or is this something else I need to look at? Also bleeding procedures, all advice very welcome.

first w/c build, all advice much appreciated, thanks guys 'n' gals.

P.S. What are the best procedures for cleaning out equipment, i.e. do I need to rinse out tubing/rads, etc. beforehand - seems some conflicting advice online - and how to go about that? Thanks again.

The D-Tek Fuzion block + Accelerator Nozzle Kit+Swiftech MCRES is an excellent choice.

As you are going to use the D5 i presume the block barbs are to be 1/2" .The ideal tubing would be Masterkleer 7/16" as this tubing will provide an extremely tight seal around the barbs.

You can use straight forward distilled water only as you are using copper block (D-Tek). fluids (Feser for example) tend to be used if you are mixing metals ie copper and aluminum blocks in the same loop for example or using phase (anti freeze/ extreme cooling).

Frequency of cleaning if using distilled water would be either annually (flushing the system) or even longer. Toping off the system is once in blue moon "maintenance"

The Thermochill rad has a bleed screw located between the barbs. (Use to bleed air from the rad after filling the system with fluid)

You can add PT_"Nuke" Concentrated Biocide to the distilled water to prevent algae growth

Rads that use water based flux such as (Thermochill). Hot water is fine as a cleaning source.

If its a 2nd hand rad that needs descalling then vinegar or a descalling solution works well. (Although some forum members will still clean new rads following the method as described below)

As you are using the lian Li "Cube" The thermochill rad will fit with slight case modification see this link Bikerz and advice pics courtesy of Mekrel.

The radiator mounting bracket is available from OCuk

Radiator cleaning guide

From W3bbo:

1. rinse the rad with distilled water.
2. Fill the rad with di-ionised, shaking the radiator when it is half full of water will help a little and will start to loosen the crap inside.
3. Do the same as above but this time with white vinegar(I used white malt).
4. Fill the radiator with vinegar but this time let it sit for 6-8 hours, I left mine overnight - 8hrs.
5.Flush out the vinegar with water.
6.Repeat Step 4.
7.Repeat Step 2.
8. Keep repating until you get clear vinegar. Took me four repeats, see below:
