Does anyone know what causes them?

About a year after I got my monitor, I got a small bright spot on it. Not a dead pixel, but a small spot just brighter than the others. I posted about it and got an rma where the panel was replaced. An example of what I mean is here

Small light spots, that are just brighter than the surrounding area. Hard to take a picture of and only really noticeable on certain colours (light solid colours really). So anyway, panel was replaced and all is well for nearly 3 years, until one appears again. Same deal, slightly lighter than the surrounding area.

My dads monitor has two areas like this as well. I've seen them on other monitors as well. Also seen two on my brothers old tv.

Searching, the issue seems rather common. Some people blame it on being poked on whatever, others claim it's just crap materials and the light diffuser wears unevenly.

This monitor hasn't been poked/prodded or anything. Treated the same before I got the panel replaced and after, first panel got one after a year, this panel after three.

Any ideas what cause them? Is it just bad material and random chance? With the first, I thought just bad luck, but now two monitors (although same panel), dads monitor was a cheaper one as well. So maybe just bad materials?

I wanted to change monitor later this year (want freesync), but this issue kinda puts me off a little as it's hard to rma it if it crops up.(people are blind apparently and can't see it).

Thanks.
