Hi all, have a job offer in Worthing and a job offer in Brighton. They're both jobs that I would happily take and pay is the same, so really it boils down to geography.

I have been to Brighton before, and imagine that it would be more fun to go out in, but then again I'll be working quite hard, and a slightly quieter suburb or town might not be such a bad thing once in a while.

I'm pretty torn between the two, and any tips or advice would be handy.

Thanks,
Tom

In Worthing you'd get much better value for money on your property, expect a 2 bed flat + garden for the same price as a 1 bed flat in Brighton if you're renting and more again if you're buying. The town is much quieter than Brighton (ie less people) and the shopping is ok. There are plenty of bars in the centre (some of them are even half decent) & a few good restaurants. The beach is much nicer than Brighton's (it runs all the way to Shoreham in one direction & Littlehampton in the other) and the shelf is quite flat so the water stays nice & warm in the summer.

Brighton is more cosmopolitan. It's got the shops, the nightlife & all the alternative lifestyles you should wish for. However it is very busy (loads of tourists, day visitors & stag/hen parties) & a lot of the people I know who live there rarely venture into the centre. It's got loads of good clubs and you get a decent selection of live acts as well.

I work in Goring-by-Sea (west worthing), Live in Hove and go out in Brighton a lot.

As above really, renting in Brighton is expensive but the night life is fantastic, thriving live music scene if you're into that, highest denstiy of pubs in the country and great shopping in the day. Can get a bit too busy in summer.

I would make the decision based on how you socialise. If you like to go out and meet people etc. Brighton is for you, if you enjoy your own company and hobbies, or entertain at home, then Worthing would be more suited.
