Hi,

Used to be big PC gamer (BF1942, Desert Combat, BF2), but work, mortgages etc got in the way...

But I am now looking to get back into it.

I used to buy my games in physical form but having looked around it seems downloading them (legally) is the new way.

I like the idea of this as it keeps them safe from breakage, taking up space in spare room etc and also - you dont have to put a disk in to play.

Do you all download rather than buy now? Pro's/Con's? (other than they seem to charge the same if not more for downloadable versions yet must cost less to produce).

Thanks

Typically a downloadable version will cost more because the sellers in this market but have the buying power of the likes of Amazon, Tesco or Asda but now I have a fibre connection which downloads at 8 mb's (80 mbit connection) a second i would rather pay the few extra quid and download it direct to my hard drive.

Keep you eyes on steam they typically have sales in the year and games are hugely discounted.

Digital generally is more expensive if you pay the "rrp" but as Freddie mentioned Steam have sales pretty much all the time (bound to be one around easter time) and games sell for insanely low prices.

You also have GOG, Orgin and a few others again which can be good. Although personally I like everything on steam :p

I've gone the complete digital route now to be honest when it comes to PC gaming. I'm much happier for it :)

Until last year I wouldn't even think about buying my games through a digital distribution service due to high costs and how your giving money and not getting anything physical in return... now I think its one of the best things to happen to the gaming world.

I use Steam, GOG and Orgin as my 3 main gaming services and own way over 400 games combined, and I haven't pay full price on ANY of them thanks to daily, midweek, weekend and season deals. Of course the con here is that if there is a game you want you have to wait for it come up as a deal.

In fact everything I do now, movies, tunes, is all downloaded though some kind of service that Ive removed the optical drive from my PC altogether just to prove the point that the drive is dying :D

Of course having a good connection is the main driving force here but if you do then this is the way forward.

I love having all my games digital. I was always against it untill I tried it (initially ps+ before moving to pc) and just having every game installed a click away is fantastic. I dont have great internet (500-800kps) but since moving providers its a lot better and I no longer end up getting dial up speeds in the evening. So sure I generally have to leave a game downloading through the day or overnight but I wouldnt want to buy a disc based game anymore.
