Got round to posting some pics from this years Bristol Show. I was still worth seeing and hearing despite the focus on two channel hi-fi rather than more AV stuff, would have loved to see some of the new projector releases, especially from JVC. The PMC demo was interesting as it looks like there is an effort to produce music for Dolby Atmos, so it'll be interesting to what happens there.

Anyway, enjoy the pics...

Thanks for sharing the pics - lots of interesting kit.

I've only ever been to the smaller Birmingham and North West hifi shows and have always been meaning to try Bristol. Would you say this is the UK's premier hifi show?

I've not been since 2006. I keep meaning to go back as Audio Tech has progressed much since back then. What puts me off is the travelling to & from Bristol, 350 mile round trip, the demo rooms in the upper floors are too small & not really acoustically suited, they get hot and cramped, the hardware companies music tastes are not the same as my own which means I don't like what they're playing (can be exceptions though) & there's not enough AV hardware on display for my liking. I am curious to hear an Atmos setup though & this show is the best place to do that if you don't mind crowds.

I've found this show is the only one that has any sort of an AV presence in it, the others all seem to focus on music systems which is a shame - it would be great if there was a show each year dedicated to home cinema in the UK.

If it helps I went on the Sunday and it wasn't crowded at all really, so most of the rooms had spare seats and were not too hot. I travel down from the Preston area to Crewe and then get a lift the rest of the way from some friends that travel from there, so it is a very long way, but I do still think its worth it and still enjoy getting the chance to experience systems that I definitely wouldn't ordinarily get to see.

Being a home cinema and music enthusiast I love the chance that I'll get to hear a band I've not heard of or see a film clip I didn't know of as well as see new tech - Sony had a good demo of a TV that has actuators in it for the front channels that vibrates the screen like a speaker - not head of that before.

It's basically a good day out that opens your eyes to new stuff if you can cope with the long drive, depending on where you are traveling from.

Great photo's...

Did any of the room's stand out?

For me the PMC Atmos demo is always worth a look although I wasn't sitting in the best position - its much better to bag a seat right in the middle of the 4 ceiling speakers to get the best impression. The SVS setup upstairs was a testament to the fact that you don't have to spend the thousands for the PMC setup to get a good enjoyable surround sound experience.

In terms of two channel the Dynaudio system was very nice indeed and sounded great, but then it should as I found out after that the speakers alone were £35k.
