Calling @Russinating @Nitefly et al! You guys helped me a few years ago for a romantic trip to Bristol, but this time it's a stag do and 6 of us are going. We're too old for fancy dress, and are more into pints and chat than shots and chanting... Staying at Travelodge Mitchell Lane and coming down Friday 19th January. Looking for some tips, and local suggestions.

Arrive Friday and plan is to go to Left Handed Giant for beers and pizzas. Then mooch down to King Street and find some late night bar/club.
Saturday, would like some sort of activity. Maybe the Max Events for some buggy racing. Not sure what to do afterwards, probably a pub crawl to the boats (The Apple is a must visit), and Cargo. Thinking about booking Spitfire for dinner. Any good bars nearby?
Sunday I’ll book Flight Club and then maybe a walk to the bridge/Clifton if it’s dry and stop off at some pubs en route.

Can anyone suggest restaurants and bars/clubs to check out. Ideally, live music, good craft beer (and cider) selections, and perhaps somewhere we may bump into a hen night or two (I mean, I'm the only single one, but can't hurt to meet the 'locals'...)

The Orchard Inn, Left Handed Giant, Wild Beer Co, The Apple, Grain Barge, Milk Thistle are all on the list but welcome to hear other recommendations.

I appreciate everyone hates stag dos... but, we won't embarrass you!

You've already got the Apple covered but you're a cider fan, and if you're going to the Apple you must be, check out The Cori Tap in Clifton and get yourself some of their lovely 'Exhibition' cider. Half pints only though.

If you're into your cocktails it could be worth checking out Aluna which is bang in the centre opposite the Hippodrome and there are also a few 'Speakeasy' styled bars. My favourite is up park street, just before you get to the triangle you take a left up a road called 'Upper Byron Place' You're looking for a black door on a grey wall. Really cool place that is hidden away

It's not the biggest place but I can imagine they'd fit 6 of you in if they're not busy.

Not sure what types of food your into but plenty of good resturants. If you're into Chinese then in the bearpit there is a fantastic Chinese called 'The Mayflower'. Don't be put off by the location of it. Probably the best Chinese in Bristol, imo. For Indian Urban Tandoor in town is OK but nothing remarkable. If you don't mind catching an Uber then you really can't go wrong with Lona's - it's all middle eastern/iranian grill bits though a drawback for a stag do is they don't serve alcohol. If you like Steak I really rate Pasture but everyone has their preferences for a steakhouse. There's as chain called the stables which also do cider and decent pizzas. Could be worth checking them out.

We've got a fairly decent Go-Kart track in St George, probably a 10-15 minute taxi journey away from where you are staying

I'll rack my brain for some other bits and bobs

Hello @Ahleckz

You’ll be staying very close to the Fleece, 2 mins away, which is a smallish music venue that does some rock and themed nights. Sure enough, on the Saturday:

Followed by…

On the Friday there’s an 80s night as well:

So that’s probably a good stop for you if you want to finish on a slightly grimy rock club night :)

If you’re that way inclined then a very famous rock pub is the Hatchett in the centred which is near the O2 academy which will probably have a nightclub night or a gig on.

Otherwise, looks like you’ve got a pretty good set of recommendations. Left handed giant is good although from memory it might be 100% meat free with the pizzas, but that doesn’t really matter. Berthas is a good pizza place, sort of on the ‘nicer’ rather than ‘dirtier’ side (maybe more date night than stag do?) but it’s also near Junction aka Bristol Beer factory.

Re: Kings Street, my go to place for meeting anyone for drinks on Bristol is Small Bar. It’s just a bit cosier than some of the other bars and I really like the selection… they always have non-sweet sour beers on tap. Nearby there is Kongs which is also probably quite good for a stag do - has a few arcade cabinets and ping pong etc, at least when I last went.

There’s also a couple of ‘arcade / bars’ that have opened up - but I haven’t been to any so can’t vouch.

If you want a bit more of a conventional ‘lads on the pull, mainstream’ sort of thing - hey, not necessarily terrible! - then you’re looking at the likes of Lizard Lounge (very young crowd, you might not get in!), Mbargo (busy slightly chavvy club) and La Rocca (yuppies and older types… a classic for work socials that get out of hand) - that’s if you’re in fully getting hammered to oblivion mode though :o :D - all of these are on the ‘Triangle’ at the top of Park Street. Yia Mas is another similarly trashy bar on Park Street. All of these are 10-15 minutes walk from King Street or a quick taxi.

I hope that helps!

My brothers stag ended up being on a pride day in Bristol years ago I don't think people knew or realised. We done an escape room event and then drinks etc. Everything ended up being colourful as you could imagine. :D there was plenty of people out . Bumped in to some hen parties . I can't remember place names unfortunately i just followed the crowd

Was near the harbour

If you're after a Ruby Murray the best Indian in Bristol at the moment IMO is a lovely place called Dharmaka. It's at the bottom of Corn Street, just over the road from the hippodrome.

It's not a traditional Indian restaurant (though they do serve the old favourites). What they've done is to take the most famous streetfood from each of several Indian cities, and turn each one into a special dish.

The food is just amazing, it's the best Indian food I've ever eaten and everyone I've gone there with says the food is fantastic.

Sounds like you've got a pretty good plan already and with just 6 of you in normal clothes you'll be fine everywhere.

LHG tap room is a really good shout. Top floor should be open on a Friday and they have dart boards and a few pool tables fyi.

I'll have a think about a Saturday activity.

Booked an escape room at Cabot Circus for Saturday at 12.30pm. Any good recommendations for brunch nearby?

Thinking after that, take a walk down to Whapping Wharf and go to the Mexican for a boozy lunch. Saturday is just going to be a pub crawl, so don't think I'll book anything after that.

So, Friday was check into the hotel then left handed giant. Pub crawl through King Street. Shout out to Lucy at the Navy!
Ended up, I’m ashamed to say, at Prysm…
Saturday was escape room, followed my drinks in The Phoenix. Down to the gin bar on the boat at Welsh Back. Then NQ64. Dinner at Spitfire, then casino. Back to King Street to Small Bar and some other one then taxi to Motion for D&B.
Sunday was a walk along the river, tacos at Cargo Cantina. Flightclub and then ended up back at the Navy on King Street. Off to the airport. Flight cancelled. Back to Bristol. Kongs for a bit and back at Premier Inn.
Will try and get a flight tomorrow…
