I'm in Bristol next week for a conference so need some food suggestions and other things mainly for the evenings. I'm staying near Queen Square so ideally places in and around there.

Place to watch Champions League / Europa League?
Odeon or Showcase?
Burgers?
Drink? Small Bar looks good.
Indian?
S.E. Asian?
Great eateries in general?

Ooooo arrrrr oooaaarrrrr bristol spoke you.

Not far off there mate :p if I was to type how I speak you lot would have a chuckle :p

@Azza Cabot has a nice cinema and a few restaurants you could spend abit of time in there and do some shopping. You could also head over to the water front near @ Bristol for the football on a evening, There's always bars there with the football on

Oh my word, someone's coming to Bristol and Cabot is your suggestion for food?!?

Bristol is an awesome city, full of independents on your doorstep.

Place to watch Champions League / Europa League: I would head to King Street Brewhouse, it's a stones throw from Queen Square. Always busy but good vibes/no chavs and good beer plus plenty of screens and a big projector in the main bar and downstairs.

Odeon or Showcase: Showcase is at Cabot, otherwise it's full of chain restaurants and shops.

Burgers: Oh my lord, so many.... Burger Theory, Three Brothers and Squeezed are all epic and within a 5 minute walk.

Drink? Small Bar looks good: Yep Small Bar, equally anywhere on King Street. There's ~15 pubs (including King Street Brewhouse above) on that stretch, all good, all something different. Kongs has retro arcade games, Beer Emporium is an underground cellar, The Old Duke has live jazz at a weekend. The King William is the cheapest (Sam Smith pub), and it's next door to the most expensive (The Royal Naval Volunteer). You'll want to crawl them all.

Indian: The Raj on King Street is good as well. Not too many other good ones in the centre.

S.E. Asian: Quite a few round there. Sticks & Broth, Pho (argh a chain... spit!), Wokyko spring to mind.

Great eateries in general: SO many... you'll have to be more specific with food type! Definitely head over to Wapping Wharf/Cargo, quite a few bars and restaurants etc in cargo containers. All independents/local places. St Nicks market for lunch in the day, about 20 independent stalls there.

Can give you plenty of other suggestions depending on what you want and if you want to venture more than a 10 minute walk from where you're staying. I presume you'll only be free in evenings? Where's your conference?

Shows your age that you know all these places ;) Im only recommending places I know of, I was born and lived in Bristol for 24 years but never ventured out to fancy places or bars as my family werent exactly in a great finiacial place when I was young so didn't have much luxury back then

Fair enough but these places exist now, not 24 years ago?

One of my pet hates on a forum is people mentioning a subject and saying Talk to me. It’s so rude and demanding.

A title like Need some suggestions on food and things to do in Bristol is far more becoming.

Nice thanks for the suggestions. They all look pretty good. Mainly evenings I'll be out and about, maybe 1 afternoon depending on how it's going. The conference is at the City Centre Marriot so I'll be walking that in the mornings, so walking places won't be an issue.

Clubbing... :D I'll only be free in the evenings unfortunately.

Thank you also for your post, I am new to Bristol and don't go much further than Cribbs, and stick to the big chains.

Do not do any of this lol.

From Queen Square you are close to St Nicks Market which has great street food.

There's loads of places tbh near where you are. Go have a wander.

Oi, im only young, so cinema and mcdonalds sounds ideal for me, none of the fancy restaurants :p

If you want something a bit different, the Coconut Tree at the bottom of Gloucester Road does Sri Lankan and it's very good. Burgers wise I go to Atomic Burger although it's a bit out the centre but not too far. Three Bothers burgers is meant to be good although I've not manged to go there yet myself.

+1 for Bertha’s pizza - the one with the butternut squash base, Nduja and blue cheese is probably the best pizza I have ever had

Colston Hall is closed for refurb. The main amphitheatre anyway.

I had a decent meal in Pasture the other day if you're into steak which is close to Q. Square.
