Bristolians, Help Needed.

Hi Guys,

I need help from some Bristol natives if you'd be so kind. I've just arrived at Avonmouth docks, where I'm on board the car carrier Tortugas (if you can see the docks from where you are, it's the white and orange ship with Wallenius Wilhelmsen in huge white letters running along the side), and I've been set a task by our 2nd Engineer. He's desperate to get some Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and has asked me as one of only two Englishmen on board where he can get some when we go ashore. The only problem being, I'm as new to Bristol as he is.

I know branches of Tesco stock them, but I don't think there's one near Cribb's Causeway, where me and a bunch of the crew are headed. Does the 24 hour ASDA at Patchway sell them perhaps?

What about the alcohol!?

What about it? We can buy it on board, duty free in $US deducted from our pay. For instance, 24 x 330ml bottles of Bitburger are $12.00, and it's pretty good. We'll pick up stores at various ports, so at the minute, beerwise we currently have on board:

Hite - South Korean Beer; awful but only $9 we picked up in Busan, Korea
Becks - 24 x 330ml bottles for $14
Bitburger
Toohey's - Australian beer we picked up in Fremantle last time the ship was down there $22.00

There's spirits too, but I don't drink those so I'm not so sure of the prices.

Beast of a ship. What do you do and where does it take you if you don't mind me asking?

At the moment, we're delivering cars we picked up in Nagoya, Japan from Toyota/Lexus. We'll drop the last of the 5,700 cars we picked up in Japan in Zeebrugge, before heading to Bremerhaven empty to load with BMW's and Audi's, and then Southampton for Jaguars and Landrovers which we'll deliver in stages in South Africa and Australia. After dry docking in Subic Bay, we'll repeat the process. Load in Japan or Korea, head to Europe and start discharging. A full lap takes about 3 & 1/2 months or so.
