I have been using Brita water Maxtra filters for >10 years for tea/instant coffee, for limescale reduction

Just noticed they have stopped offering Maxtra cartridges in online shop and now have just Maxtra+
Corresponds to a minor improvements and typical £4->£6 price hike
What other cartridge do you recommend, or, not recommend ? Aqua-Optima / BWC ???

They are trying to differentiate themselves with minor improvement, see below
I think Amazon/Argos is on run-out of older stock

EXPERIENCE THE NEW POWERFILTER MAXTRA+ FOR A BETTER TASTE

The new MAXTRA+ Universal filter cartridge marks a new era in water filtration. The enhanced MicroFlow Technology delivers better tasting water than ever before. Furthermore, premium limescale reduction capabilities are maintained, prolonging the life of small domestic appliances like coffee machines and kettles.
  • Enhanced MicroFlow Technology
    for a plus in performance
  • A plus in convenience, fitting old and new carriers with MAXTRA and MAXTRA+ technology
25% finer mesh and micro carbon pearls reduce chlorine and impurities for improved taste and appearance of food and drinks

We've got about 4 months supply of filters in the house, looks like we'll be getting the plumbed in fitting in the next couple of months then. :D

They could have just re-formulated the components of the existing cartridges to make production cheaper and maybe customers/I would have been none the wiser.
(like McVities , cream-eggs, toblerone... samsung tvs?)
It would be facsinating to have the inside line on the marketting strategy, but I doubt they anticipated Brexit vote or economic situation so they maybe forced to remove premium they wanted to charge.

We've had a brita kettle for a while, but are going to change to a filtered tap instead. Can be done for under £100 easily so long as you're handy with a spanner to install a new tap.
