Got one today, and the packing says the filters should be changed every four weeks.

Is this based on a four family using it for juice, to fill kettles etc? Or just 1 person having 4-5 glasses of water each day?

I change the filter in mine every 8 weeks or so - I wait for the counter to tell me that the filter needs changing, reset it, then when it tells me again I change it.

Ditto.

I tend to change mine when the filter says it needs it. Normaly filter about 4 litres a day at a guess. Noticed it goes through faster when its a new filter, but not noticed any difference in the water between a new and old filter.

Bugger. This one lets you set the date when you installed the cartridge.

Oh well, it was only a tenner. :)

redistilling will make it stronger and purer ,putting it thro the britta 5/6 times gets rid of some of the crap that comes with cheap booze ,rough tasting spirits can also be made smoother (artifical aged) by adding 1 teaspoon of glycerine to the bottle and shaking,be careful with the glycerine ,it can make the roughest booze taste like pop.

We had one in our flat at uni, shared between about 10 people and the filter lasted well over a month and it was being refilled about 3 times a day, the display on the jug counts a month (on the versin we have) which is rather silly as it has little relation to the condition of the filter. When it takes a lot longer to filter water that's when it needs replacing.
