Britain's Defences

Anyone know anything about the RC-135V/W that we might have been buying from the USA to replace the R1's?
White paper here for anyone with enough time to read it.

We are still getting Rivet Joint.

After posting the link to the paper if anyone asks a question answered by it I wholeheartedly recommend the link being copy/pasted as the answer :D After all it will only take a quick ctrl+f to get the answer themselves!

Was easy enough to find on an idle wednesday morning in the office. As for the specific details of most things i.e. which bases will close (outside ones already announced), who is going to be laid off, how many people they'll still be recruiting etc etc the details have not been decided yet and won't come out for a few months yet. Most things posted will be speculation at this time if the not in the white paper above.

Given the Iraq war and terrorist attrocities of late, I don't think British intelligence is worth the headed paper it is written on.

Interesting you feel qualified to comment in such a way, I take it you know the ins and outs of the Intelligence service and what they have / haven't stopped from going on?

You can't protect against every possible threat it’s impossible.

Makes for very interesting reading about the new Carriers, its worded in such a way that the fate of the second is unknown.

Do you?

I'm stating what is quite obviously possible.

There were major failings discovered in all the scenarios I mention.

The argies also did take us completely by suprise last time.

Given the nonesense about the WMDs, I don't think we are in much of a position to laud our foreign intelligence as being always appropriate, level or accurate.

We execute foreign nationals on our public transport systems ffs.

No you can't.

You can try to make your evidence based on reality though.

Do we now, that will be news to many people. :p

Well it certainly wasn't the epitome of situational control and understanding was it?

Chasing a man down the street with weapons without shouting proper warnings, then popping his head full of lead when he obviously runs away.

Yes, I trust the intelligence services to no ends.

Most the problem with Intelligence is that it is essentially taking facts and what we know, putting those elements together and making a best informed guess. Errors are bound to happen.
