Britannia - SKY TV Series

Enjoying it, but that title song choice....music supervisor should be sacked.
I think they're aiming for a Peaky Blinders type crossover vibe. Sadly the only crossover vibe I got from the first episode involved changing channels before the end.

It suffered from the same problem I had when I first tried to read Game of Thrones... so many characters so quickly, and I didn't care about any of them. So I was too busy getting bugged by the script and shallow depth of field attempts to make shroomagic feel real to get onboard.

But then George Martin's magic is pretty lousy too, and GoT is only epic because the characters are epic. Maybe I'll try Britannia again before my free month on NowTV expires, searching for the epic. So far though the only thing I like is the redhead with the bow, who nearly managed to
stop the Red Wedding
.

Save people looking for it

Britannia is a drama set in 43AD as the Roman Imperial Army - determined and terrified in equal measure - returns to crush the Celtic heart of Britannia - a mysterious land ruled by warrior...

Will have a look after dinner, been waiting for this.

and screw NowTv, just use Kodi ect, like everyone else lol

I guess I'm the odd one one then as I thought it was OK, despite a few issues such as the casting of David Morrissey being bloody awful, and I intrigued enough to watch another episode.

PS Kelly Reilly, Oh My :D

I think its good. Not Game of Thrones or Vikings good but fairly enjoyable to watch.

Still think the title music choice is utterly terrible - completely takes me out of it when that plays.

Does it get any better after the first episode? It’s really bad so far. I usually give things more of a chance, but... what the hell was that!

I've given it a few episodes and I think it's pretty terrible. The tone is all over the place, few of the characters are likeable, and I can't help but laugh at the druid magic rubbish. The problem with this vs GoT is that this is set in our world, in a history that actually occurred, and as a result I find the fantasy elements hard to buy into.

One review described it as unintentionally being a bit like a 'carry on' film and I don't think that's inaccurate. Also the Roman leader boasts that there are 20,000 invading Romans yet his encampment appears to house about 200. I just don't think a TV show with a limited budget can do ancient Rome justice. One of my favourite parts of Gladiator was the battle at the start and I was hoping for the tone and scale of that in this show.

Just finished watching the final episode - I really like it. You can see where it's trying to pull the Game of Thrones "no character is safe" thing and although it's certainly no game of GoT, it's enjoyable in it's own right.

Go in and watch it as a fantasy, rather than factual, and you'll come out with a much better impression imho - although to be far to the the producers, they've never marketed as a historical retelling.

Now if someone puts Cornwell's Arthurian trilogy on the TV I'll be a happy man :)

I'm going to eat my words to a degree, as whilst not a masterpiece by any stretch in any way, it got progressively more enjoyable as it went along and by the end I was keen on seeing what would happen in series 2. :)
