Heads up that Britbox currently has an offer; £2.99 for three months and then reverting back to the normal £5.99 price.

Thank you for making us aware of the offer Hades. I have never used britbox. Intro offer of £2.99 seemed decent. I had a look at Truspilot reviews. They score 1.5 out of 5 stars based on 822 reviews. Don't think I'll bother persuing it. I'm already subscribed to Netflix and Prime.

I must admit the dross on there is incredible. I wasn't tempted at the normal price. But £3 a month for a couple of months is worth it for Yes Minister alone.
I was just being facetious really. Cheaper than a cup of coffee!

I don't think there is much I'd really want to see that isn't already on iPlayer.

I use BritBox quite a lot. Lots of classic stuff on there which I enjoy watching, whole seasons, OFAH etc. Classic comedy stuff. I just use the free trials though with a revolut virtual debit card, so no money spent.

Yet, at least one season of Yes, Prime Minister is available on iPlayer. I would feel cheated to have to pay again to watch something from the BBC. It should all be available for the BBC licence fee payer and only charge international customers for the privilege.

Actually I do agree with that. we have already paid for it to be made. If it were included with the existing license fee then perhaps people would be less unhappy about paying the license fee.

If it was free I might check it out.

This was always going to be a flop.

Only way I could see it taking off is the end of the TV licence. And it became only way to get trash TV?

Is there anything exclusive to it? Is a lot of stuff not available on other apps or even Netflix?

How did the BBC get around the legality of them including all their stuff that the tax payer already paid for with the license fee but having to pay again to access britbox?

What about the licence fee and BritBox? BritBox doesn’t take any money from the licence fee. The platform – and any original programmes it will include – are paid for separately. The former Director General of the BBC, Tony Hall, likened BritBox to buying classic shows on DVD and said any money the BBC makes from the service will be put back into programme-making. However, ITV has a far larger stake in BritBox - it owns 90%. Also there are no advertisements on BritBox.

Majority of the reviews appear to be due to incredibly poor software, madness. After all the marketing on TV they're encouraging some people to buy into the streaming environment, and if britbox doesn't work but they like it, they may just end up using the others like netflix. Seriously bad planning by britbox.

I like the idea of TV, turn it on and it just works. Shame it's twice the cost of netflix even after the price hike, and non bbc tv still has adverts
They really need to sort their poop out if they want to survive.

Just read the above, ITV have 90% ownership, sucks to be them.

So why was it blocked a couple of times before now?

No idea and there aren't any adverts on non BBC. No advertisements anywhere.

I am enjoying some of the classics I can't find anywhere else tbh, just circumventing by using free trials so no money spent lol.
