British National Cyber Strategy, BritChip for mobile devices by 2025

So who wants to bet that this will be sold to the public as protecting them from malware etc., but in actual fact will be used to bypass encryption on apps like Whatsapp etc. and spy on people?

Does this mean we'll see a British smartphone manufacturer, or will existing manufacturers be forced to use this chip if they wish to sell their phones over here?

Would likely be implemented as a requirement for UKCA (the new CE marking) approval for what ever devices it was being forced on.

Can someone show me a list of UK mobile phone manufacturers..... I can't see Apple, Samsung, LG, Nokia etc using this chip design unless they really know what it does and I am fairly confident the UK market on its own is too small for them to put effort into a UK specific handset.

I'll stick with something from a bigger market thanks. More likely to get support and updates. Show me the benefit to me as a consumer and I'll reconsider.

Nvidia is being denied permission for an outright take over last I read. I hope they list back onto the FTSE with partial ownership a better idea as the whole company is pivotal to the advancement of the sector overall
