Had this problem for over a year now.
Our telephone line is very noisy to the point that the crackle and fizz on the line makes conversation impossible.
I think this is why our broadband keeps disconnecting. It used to be 8meg but now fluctuates between 160K and about 5.3 on a good day. Even when we dial out using the telephone or someone calls it disconnects.
I've replaced the wire from the telephone socket. All filters (2) and taken every other cable out apart from the PC and still its the same.
The modem is a speedtouch freebie. Does the modem make a difference to connection retention?
I think the wires to the house are knackered but I can't see BT re-wiring us
Has anyone got any experience with this?
Thanks
