Good evening gentlemen
I have had a difficult weekend since broadband has ben out of order since Friday. Am with BT with smart hub but use draytek vigor 2760n. However last week i connected netgesr r7000 nighthawk to the vigor and on wifi optoons told it to choose wifi frewuency automatically 2 or 5 Ghz. A couple of days later broadband dead. Smarthub is showing blue light but no interner. BT resent fresh signal down line but to no avail. Engineer coming monday. Also my sony bravaria TV is playing up it keeps restarting whem on and much less sensitive to remote control. Hope you can kindly advise.

Have you tried putting everything back to how it was before the R7000? Also might be worth disconnecting the TV for now. If that fixes things try adding one piece at a time and taking it from there.

The engineer came from BT and said my smart hub migjt be faulty he tried is own home hub 5 but still no luck with my wifi or wired connections it says cannot obtsin IP address. But engineer could connect to intrrnet on his own laptop usong his home hub 5. Anyway BT phoned me later to say they are sending boosted signal but i still cant get online due to ip address failure. They will phone me again thursday tomorrow and might send me new router. Have to use mobile phone data meantime to get online.

Have you tried defaulting the BT hub, connect & configure that and then test Internet access from a single PC connected directly via cable. Once powered on and left for a few minutes, what lights does the BT hub show?

If client devices cannot obtain an IP address from the router, that's usually an internal equipment issue, not an ISP problem.

Sounds like the BT agent fed you a load of rubbish - "sending boosted signal" :D

if I am following your post correctly you have a:- Hub/Modem -> Draytek 2760 -> r7000

If so, what device is doing NAT and DHCP? I would anticipate this to be the Draytek 2760n and not the r7000? The r7000 should have DHCP switched off and a static IP reserved outside of the DHCP subnet scope within the Draytek (so that you can navigate to the r7000 on the same LAN Subnet).

I.E - Draytek 2760n has Gateway address of 192.168.1.1 and issues 192.168.1.2 -> 192.168.1.253 within its DHCP scope. The r7000 can be on IP address 192.168.1.254 with DHCP off and will be reachable on the LAN.

Unless I've missed something it seems to me you have a double NAT'ing issue whereby the r7000 is not configured correctly.
