broadband options

I recently moved in to my gf's place where they have broadband downstairs through the NTL cable box.

I want broadband upstairs in the bedroom however they use NTL for their phone aswell which i guess rules out any adsl, is there anyway i can get my own broadband connection in the bedroom without sharing the one thats downstairs and without getting a new phone line upstairs?

Just a suggestion but have you actually asked if they ever had BT phone line in the past ... just a slight chance they may still have the line and just went cable when it was available ... good luck otherwise

They may have done, but i'll still have to pay the line rental on it if i want to use it.

I may just have to upgrade the internet downstairs and setup a network, is that possible with cable from a cable box/not a modem?

Yep. Set top box's RJ45 is the same as a cable modem's (basically).
