Hi,

First off, I'm a complete noob when it comes to broadband / router stuff, so please go easy on me if I say anything really stupid here :p

OK moving swiftly on, I've just moved into a new house, and re-signed with the ubiquitous BeThere broadband (BePro tariff).

I've swapped the bundled Thompson router for a DG834GT upgraded to the following firmware:

V1.01.32 - DGTeam Rev. 0743

I'm currently getting about 8mb downstream with the following stats:

statskr9.jpg

From reading through the sticky it looks like my SnR is very bad, but by line attenuation is pretty good.

Given these stats, is there anything I should be doing to try and get the SnR higher? Are there any adjustments that I should be making to my router? Do I need to contact my ISP to ask them to make any changes to my line settings?

Any advice would be much appreciated,

Cheers,

Fred

You can email or call Be and ask them to raise your SnR i think. Or maybe they can only bring it down to the normal 6. Going by your stats, they look ok to me. Most people's noise margin is around 6.

They can't change your SNR margin but rather your target SNR margin and you're already at the default.

The bigger issue is you should be getting ~15Mbps with that attenuation. Try with your router connected directly to the master socket and no extensions, and try the BeBox too.
Make sure both are doing ADSL2+ as well, and if you're on Be Pro you should be using Annex M (though I had to poke Be with a stick to get them enable that).

Yep it's plugged into the master socket

BeBox was getting slightly lower speeds than the Netgear router

How can I check this?

Just had a my connection drop for the first time.

Is there anything I can do to tune my connection up a bit, or is this as good as it gets?

Rang Be and they suggested changing the microfilter. Tried that, didn't work. Next suggestion was to try the test socket in the main phone socket. Will give that a try tonight. Not holding my breath though...
