I've been with BTBroadband for the past 2/3 yrs and have never received a particularly fast connection from them. Whilst my router (DG834G) has always reported 8128kbps downstream/448kbps upstream, my actual downloadable speed has maxed out somewhere around 50k per second in the daytime (due to throttling by BT I presume) and around 200k per second off peak on non-mainstream sites.

Recently however my speeds have gone through the roof no matter what site or what time of day. I'm seeing 450+ k per second downloads now and youtube actually streams without pausing!

So why the change? Have BT decided to stop throttling users?

I'll give that a try. I managed 780k per second this afternoon downloading on iPlayer!

According to that BT site my IP profile is 7150kbps and my DSL connection rate is 8128kbps downstream.

AFAIK it's always been these values as I remember checking here before when I thought my connection was receiving excessive throttling.
