My PC boot's up quite fast using a Samsung SSD, but the signal to the Virgin Media broadband sometimes takes upto 2 minutes to connect, so I can use the Internet etc.

I was just wondering if their is anything I can tweak to make it connect almost instantly? Or is this down to too many people on one of the hubs or whatever it is...?

I remember having an issue a number of years ago, the connection would take over 5 to 10 minutes to secure a connection, the Virgin Media Engineer said they was going to upgrade something in my area, and the problem was too many people on one box/hub thing? Within a few weeks it was connecting very fast.

Do you leave the Super Hub on? How is the PC connected to it?
Yes, Super Hub 60mb connection.

Connected via RJ45 cable from Hub to the back of the PC motherboard.

Maybe it's taking a while to get an IP from the DHCP server. Any quicker if you set a static IP?

Some antivirus / security software will block the connection until it has started up fully, could be that?

Manually assign the IP address by giving your PC a static one from the superhub, should instantly connect then.

Tried that, no difference. :(

Yeah you maybe right I guess, I am using Kaspersky Internet Security 2012.

Ping the default gateway and see if it responds as soon as the computer starts. Also ping 8.8.8.8 (both while using a static IP).
