Hi,
I have had 2mbps BT broadband for a while now and have just found out that we will be getting a free upgrade to 8mbps as my mum works for cisco and works from home a lot.

We have recieved a new modem/router and it says that it is possible to make internet phone calls with this router, but it also says that i have to ring up and activate BT's BBV (business broadband voice). do you think it possible to use VOIP in games without activating the phone service ??

My main question to you is this...
How do i set up VOIP so that i can use it in games to speak to other players ?

ok thanks, will try that when its installed.

What about voip in games ? do you need to set it up ?

No problem, there made for gaming so by far your best option and they use very little memory to run em.

Teamspeak is preffered for most, easier, user-friendly and just better imo.

Vent definately produces better quality sound, but Teamspeak is better for use while gaming etc....... imo

If you're interested in phone calls over the net, the best place i can think of off the top my head is Skype and the packages they offer for internet phone calls. www.skype.com

For VOIP calling, you can't beat Sipgate. Free incoming calls from landlines or VOIP systems, free permanent landline number in an area of your choosing and very low national and international call charges.

Use it as a business line myself. 0845 numbers are free too!

Plus you don't have to give them a credit card number until you want to make outgoing calls...!

Sweet, i'll look into that, my buddie uses Skype for business i'll point him in that direction.
