Hey im looking for an ADSL modem with a broadcom chip. It could be and most likely will be a modem/router combo but i would like it to have a modem only mode.

Wondering if you guys could recommend anything? Im set on a broadcom chip as they tend to hold my line the best.

Was looking at the TP-Link TD-W8960N as one but wondering if other? (:

If you do buy the TD-W8960N from Overclockers I'd like to know what revision they have in stock. And how warm the unit operates, as Broadcom seem warmer than other chipsets when I tried other brands a few years back.

Worth looking at WikiDevi as can search for devices with specific chipsets. Although not complete list of what's available on the market.

If you're looking at getting something very cheap just as a modem you can grab a Speedtouch 546v6 off the 'bay and put that in bridge mode, has the Broadcom chipset you are looking for and is a very common choice.

Otherwise, the 7800N is a great choice for a single unit as chris6273 said.

I've always had a very good experience with the Billion 7800N - SNR Tweaking on ADSL, can be used as a Router with FTTC (Can do 100Mbps via EWAN) and is very stable!

I'd recommend it.

Good WiFi as-well.
+1 for this, Got my parents dodgy internet from and unstable 2mbps to a stable 5mbps with the SNR tweaking. Lots of cool features too like a vpn end point.

Also some of the netgears, the 834gt or the 2200N I had those when I was on ADSL for this very reason.
