So I accidentally laid my ROG Swift PG348Q - bought from the MM - down on something sharp and now the RHS 10% of the screen is buggered. Ironically I did it as I was moving it over to a dual-monitor mount. (See this thread.)

I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty and if I can pick up a replacement panel cheaply I'm willing to give replacing it a go if it's not too difficult.

The panel is apparently a LM340UW2-SSA1

Asus themselves want over €700 for the panel which is silly; Ali Express want over $280. But at that price it's more than half the cost of a new UW monitor. At $100 it would be a no-brainer, but $280? That's not cost-effective.

What are your thoughts?

If it was my money on the line I would bite the bullet and replace it with a new model.

I look at it this way - assuming you find a panel, there's no guarantee you will be able to conduct the repair safely and to a standard that would guarantee any longevity. There is also the risk that you could inadvertently damage another, harder to repair/replace component during the process which would put you back to square one.

Buying a new monitor would, hopefully, land you with a superior screen as things have moved on a bit in the 5 years since that model came out and above all it would be under warranty so at least if anything goes wrong that wasn't your fault (sorry I had to go there) your covered for the next few years at least.
