I was rearranging some things around my PC and adjusting a couple of things inside it today and upon turning it on it spins up (HDD's go too) however there is no signal on the monitor... I think I may have pulled the monitor cable attached to the computer a bit to hard, it didn't come out, however it was pulled at an angle so maybe it broke something internally.

Troubleshooting shows it's not the cable or monitor itself so it must either be the DVI-VGA adaptor or the GFX card (6800 GT). The DVI-VGA adaptor was plugged into the DVI socket of the GFX card and I can't find any damage in either. I can't test DVI itself as the GFX card never worked with it (had to go through the DVI-VGA adaptor and to VGA to the monitor:rolleyes:). Any suggestions as to what I can test?

The GFX card spins up and all cables are in place, i'm going to see if I can buy/find another DVI-VGA adaptor tomorrow, other than that the only other option appears to be getting a new GFX card.

So on a new GFX card note (just incase...) I want:

  • Something as powerful as the 6800 GT, however not much more powerful is needed. I don't really play games any more, however will play the occasional Farcry and Battlefield 2.
  • Preferably passively cooled/ v. quiet
  • Cheap

So any suggestions as to what may be wrong (you never know, it may be obvious....) or suggestions for a new GFX card would be appreciated.

Thanks:)
