Broken cloud ii usb adapter

My lad has had these headphone for about 4 weeks and just stood on the 7:1 adapter and now has issues with intermittent microphone.
What are my options - other than buying a new set !
I have fired an email to Kingston to see if the adapters can be obtained separately but I won't hold my breath.

Would you open it up and try to fix or is there something cheapy I can buy to replace.

Please note - there is only one 3.5mm jack plug that carries the mic and speaker signals.

Just had an email from Kingston saying they will replace the USB adapter...seems FOC but will confirm.
Excellent above and beyond customer service so far.
 
Update:
Kingston contacted me to say they have a shortage of the USB adapters so will contact me when they are in stock and they are aware of a problem with the mic.
They are sending me a 32GB Fury mem stick as compensation.

Having spoke with my lad again about the issue, it turns out he didn't stand on them but instead decided that someone must have stood on them for them to have problems and that I don't listen.
Being honest, I don't listen properly past "Dad, my 4 week old headphones are broken"
 
Sounds like good customer service so far, especially with the free memory stick.

Think I will be getting a Cloud or Cloud 2 for my next headset!
