I decided to upgrade my old 19" Sony with a 22" COMPAQ P1220. However, after plugging it in I can barely get a picture on it. Without the input cable plugged in it sits on the diagnostic screen and flickers really badly most of the time (a bit like if you receive a text message and your mobile is close to the screen). Occasionally the picture improves a little but it still flickers. Whilst flickering, the monitor also buzzes, the worse the flicker the louder it buzzes
When plugged into the graphics card the monitor mostly sits there with a blank screen, occasionally there are flashes of what should be on the screen although these are intermittent
Any ideas? Could this have happened in transit? Is it something I could fix myself?
