Can anyone suggest the best method for retrieving data from an old hard drive.
My old old laptop Eisystem 4430 that I used around 10 years ago stopped working so I got a repair man from our local paper to take a look.
He diagnosed the HDD as being goosed.
I kept it all anyway thinking that one day it may be simpler to retrieve the data which to be honest is only photos.
I fired the laptop up tonight and it still works but it wont boot - keep getting the error message NO NTLDR or something like that.
I can enter the bios and tried to get it to boot ubuntu from a CD and from a DVD even trying previous versions and things but I get the message No bootable media found.
Can anyone help ?
I can't remember if it was clicking or not ( it broke around 8 years ago) but it doesn't really do anything now, I can hear the CD drive spinning up when I put a cd in.
