broken iPhone 3G?

I picked up one for a bargain on Ebay. Problem is it comes up with a restore error in iTunes. What are my chances of being able to fix it or flash it? Bit of an impulsive purchase but I suppose I can always sell it again!

Hmm, its not looking good. Tried to restore in DFU mode and got error 23. Tried quickpwn but it crashes in windows 7? Anything else I can try? What happens if I take it to the genius bar - would they just repair it no questions asked?

You'd need it to be warranty for them to fix it. I'm assuming that if it was sold as broken then it's out of warranty. Some places will fix it, but it's quite expensive.

Yeah, out of warranty. Maybe its impossible to fix with all the software methods - anyone up for a challenge? Thanks for the website link..

What error does it show when not in DFU mode and you try to restore? Also what FW are you restoring it to and how far along does the progress bar get on the phone?
