Hi,

When replacing laptop a keyboard i've pulled off a latch type zif connector. If i push the cable and the connector hinge together the keyboard works. I've tried taping it it place but the tape doesn't provide enough pressure.

Im wondering can i glue the keyboard cable and latch in place? Is there any glue that suitable that won't conduct?

There's some pictures below.

Thanks in advance

DO NOT GLUE THIS!

Try wedging a bit of paper in between it, if its not thick enough fold it until it is, then add some tape to keep it in place.

Thanks, what's the reason i shouldn't glue it?

The black connector on top of the cable is loose, it will pull straight off. I'll try a piece of paper above the latch. Hopefully if i build it up enough the keyboard will keep it in place.

If that doesn't work any other ideas?

Hot glue guns are good for this sort of repair, as they are thicker than normal glue and you do stand a chance of removal. It may not work however! The idea behind the connectors is that they exert pressure to keep the spring pins in place, normal glue would not work.

Have you tried gaffer tape? Its considerably stickier, but is also quite elastic.
