Broken laptop screen? Any easy fixes?

Laptop screen has started adding a blue tinge to the screen. Found a pic of someone else with the same issue:

Anyone got any ideas on what it causing it or how to fix it?

Laptop is Sony VAIO VGN-FZ21M

i would guess that it is either the infuser or the ribbon cable, you should be able to source replacements from auction sites

it will either be the screen, the cable or the mainboard, you rule the mainboard out by seeing if its the same on an external monitor

It's got an Nvidia 8400m GT in it, anyone remember the failure rates for those? The GPU has most likely gone faulty, only a new mainboard will fix that really, does it still have warranty?

Yes another 18 mths left on the warranty (bought second hand with 2 yrs warranty).

Will contact them and get it fixed
