I have a Canon 10-22mm wide angle lens. When looking through the view finder it looks blurry but the photos come out fine. It looks like the focus system works but the motorised ring is stuck!

Its about 2 years old, can they be fixed?

What camera is it on?

If it's blurry down the viewfinder, but not on the sensor then it implies that it's either a fault with the viewfinder, or you've compensated the viewfinder for an eye correction you don't need. For example, on my 350d, you can change the focal properties +/-1 dioptre so that if you're slightly short-sighted (like me!), you can compensate for this through the camera.

Also, how "stuck" is the motorized ring? Stuck as in it doesn't move when you focus, or you can't physically move it? If the latter, you wouldn't be able to focus anything I wouldn't have thought.

I echo what growse said. There should be a little wheel somewhere near/slightly behind the eyecup. I've been confused by it before myself :p

LOL it works now, phew!!! It is attached to a 30d. I have had digital SLR's for around 4 years now and never touched that dial ever as I have 20:20 vision.

I have won a round a couple of years ago of the fine OcUK photo comp, but not had time over the last year to enter.

Thank god it was that easy, what a muppet! Thanks everyone. This forum is great :D
