Hello

My girlfriend's MacBook's battery is dead. It will only turn on with the power plugged in. It works fine when I take the battery out of my laptop and put it in hers.

We're both students so we bought our laptops from the Apple Higher Education portal thing. I am under the impression that this gives our laptops a three year warranty? She bought her one in January 2007.

By looking on the Apple website and putting in the serial number of the laptop it says she's not eligible for phone support so you have to take it into one of their repair places. The nearest one to us is that crappy high street PC shop everyone knows about. Is it safe to take your laptop there to get fixed? Will it be free? It best be!

There's also another niggling problem but it's not as bad as the battery thing. The click on the mousepad isn't as sensitive as it used to be so could you get that repaired too?

Thanks for your help
