Hey there, on Saturday night whilst a bit drunken for my birthday I only went and fell on my right hand and ended up in A&E where I got a Xray and iv got three broken metacarpal bones in my hand, sheer snapped in half not just fractured, they cant operate until Thursday because of the swelling, but iv got a temporary cast on at the moment till Thursday when I get a full time cast.

Has anyone broken this bone before and how long did it take yours to heal etc?

Its a right pain in the backside as its my right hand and im right handed so I can barely do anything at all, etleast my index finger I can bend so I can type and click my mouse though so I have something to do whilst it heals I guess.

One things for sure it will be a while until I drink again!
 
Ah dear, so Im guessing mine will take a lot longer than 10 weeks then, doesn't help that I race motocross bikes so I wont be riding again for a while, wanted to get training this winter for next years season starting in feb because I didn't race much this year due to just recovering from a bust collar bone that needed surgery in jan this year. goes from bad to worse!

nope, fell and landed on a curb leaving a club with me missus lol, she almost went over on her heels when it got stuck between a gap in the flags and I caught her and went over my self unfortunately. It didn't hurt at all tho but after half hour It had gone blue and three times the size

Was a honest fall that did it though I just happened to be tipsy due to it being my birthday nothing else. Its not like I go out and get bladed every weekend and end up there. I go out once every 6 months if that for a pint or two, haven't been to town in years until this weekend.

Also, there was nobody in A&E at all, not one person I went straight in no waiting about was in and out in 20 mins, straight for a xray then a cast.


But I agree, people who end up there wasting our tax money on cuts and stomach pumping etc don't deserve the help when they did it to them selves.

Haha go big or go home! Iv had a lot of racing crashes in the past 11 years, worst being my colar bone that I had plated and screwed togetheer, but iv also had worse crashes than that one where iv been knocked out and concust and not broken anything and a slight fall and this has happened it's quite annoying.
 
Bloody hell running away from wasps and spiders really? Haha I don't like spiders Infact im scared of them touching me and if I see one I loose my appetite and feel sick for hours but I don't run away from them they can't move fast, I just get the Hoover and suck it up and it's gone. Wasps I don't run from unless it's flying around my face just open the window and catch it in a glass then slide it to the window. I don't like flys more they tend to fly right at ya head them big dirty horrible ones. But daddy long leg crane flys I don't mind at all even tho there flying spiders?! Weird Eh. I couldn't sleep with any of the above in the room till they was out apart from a crane fly I don't mind
 
Ok thanks for the info guys, shall I be moving my fingers at all at this stage? I mean I can gently move my fingers perfectly really though a bit painful, but I can't hold anything not even my phone in that hand, any weight on it is really painful, but Iv never had a pot on my wrist and hand before so I'm worried about not being able to move my fingers properly again when it's healed if I don't wiggle them, but is wiggling them doing damage if done gently?

Also my fingers are really reAlly cold I keep using a hair dryer on them to warm them up whats that about? Lol

Well that was a bit silly lol but yeah my hand swelled about three times the size and went blue was a bit sore to touch and I wouldn't of gone to hospital if
My missus didn't make me, and I was shocked when I was told i had three broken bones and the nurse looking at the x Ray just pulled a ouuushhhh face when she saw the x Ray and they was quite shocked that I didn't want anything for the pain it didn't really hurt much at all, nor does it now only when I try lift anything at all it hurts but that's to be expected less than 48 hours after breaking them lol. I just can't wait for them to sort it out Thursday and what have ya and for them to tell me how long I'll have to have a pot on for because it's annoying as hell.

Nope, they just said we will book you in for a operation on Thursday and give me a appointment card and put a pot on my arm, it was all very quickly done didn't really get told that much info if im honest which was a bit worrying after seeing the xray !

so I guess ill see whats what on Thursdays and ill have my phone handy for some pictures this time! my missus went to the toilet and had my phone in her bag when I got the pictures of the last xray, hopefully they will let me take a picture of whats going on on Thursday haha

Well, had to have my hand re-broken today because all three bones was healing at a 30 degree angle!, then I had a cast put on a more solid one, before I had just half of a cast because of the swelling, all three bones are almost aligned up now but they aren't perfect which is worrying, doesn't hurt much tho only hurt a tad when they yanked on them :p But got an appointment next week got to have another xray and see if they are healing straight and if not then they said they will have to plate them etc.

p.s sorry for the slang its harder than before now to type with this huge pot on my arm lol
