Hi people im in need of some help

I bought a montherboard[and other stuff] from a user
and i cant get even to the bios
the screen wont come on although it powers up but keeps reseting aver say about 4 secob=nds
ive tried a diff gpu and ram and psu and none but these work on another computer
im wondering if there is something a can download or is ther something to test it with

ok ive tried a reset and its still the same
the only thing ive noticed from the other board i had is the 20 pin and this one has an 8 pin power connector instead of a 4 pin

would this make any difference

MS-7681 covers a variety of MSI boards so what's the specific model number?

Have you made sure the OC Genie button isn't pressed down on the motherboard?

Have you fitted the 24 pin and 8 pin power cables to the motherboard?

Edit

Noting the above you'll need a 24 pin supply to the motherboard.

You can get a 20 to 24 pin adapter here but please post the make and model of your PSU because if it only has a 20 pin connector it may be too old and crappy for the job.

Edit 2

You can use a 20 pin connector but it's years since I've seen a PSU without a 24 pin.

I assume it's an old PSU so please post the make and model.

He said his last mobo only had a 20 Pin. Do you need a 24Pin to power it? Or would the 20Pin suffice like the 4Pin does.

sorry guys im not with it sending me nuts
its a 24 pin psu its actually a corsair hx650
so its fairly new

what i meant was my older motherboard only had a 24 pin and a FOUR pin connection but this new one has the eight pin

ive made sure the genie is switched off

MSI p67a-gd55
like i said its was bought from the forums
im thinking off sending it back and picking up a
Asrock Z68 PRO3

So just to clarify have the 24 pin and the 8 pin both been plugged in?

Is it a B3 revision motherboard?

Did you buy it in the Members Market? I was having a quick look to see which motherboard it was but couldn't see where you'd bought a P67 motherboard there.

ive had the 24 and 8 all connected
ive got it just now with just the cpu/fan one stick of memory and gpu and still it wont bring the screen on

the only thing the cmos reset did was at one point it just worked for say 4 seconds then kept restarting now it runs and keeps going ,but still nothing on the screen

please im struggling here :(

It might be worth removing the cooler and cpu and checking for any bent pins in the cpu socket.
