I Have a PC I built a few years ago, which I don't use mch, I used to use it for gaming but the Xbox has taken on that mantle. But it has all my files on it, pictures and so on.

When I powe it up, it powers up all the fans, drives etc, but doesn't do anything else, the monitor is asking to check the cable and there is no POST beep.

My thinking is that the Motherboard is dead, as the PC would still start into the BIOS if the CPU was broken.

Am I right???

Try Cmos battery.

I did think of that, but I thought it would still get to the BIOS and just warn you that the battery is dead.

It was working fine one day, didn't use it for a week and it didn't work

i think my friend's pc has a dead motherboard too, i tested the ram, graphics card and cpu and all seems fine, but when i switch it on nothing happens, not even any beeps.

Hey. Not really advice on how to fix but you can easily just unplug harddrive and plug in another pc for your files.
