enermax coolergiant (i think! about 7 years ld!) 480w which i think has blown.

is there anything else i haven't tried before i try a new PSU/one out of this PC?

Tried switching the plug leads with the monitor using the same socket that was giving power to the monitor. Tried the switch on the back of the PSU. all the other plugs have power.

It's been running an intel core 2 duo extreme processor with 8gb of Ram - has this been too much for it do you reckon? Only things plugged into are normal stuff like keyboard etc and an external HDD.

Have you done the paperclip test? Unplug the 24 pin, and try jump-staring it with a fresh kettle plug you know has a good fuse in it.

If it don't start its dead. Be warned though some PSU failure 'silently' blow the kettle plug fuse. I went through a lot of kettle plugs in my house before I realised.

Search of PSU paperclip on the interwebs, you will find the instructions easy enough

tried it - it works!

so i plugged it back in and left the side of the case of so i could if the motherboard lights up. it did....

so i thought i'd try turning it on!

It only went and frigging worked!! lol

Damn....

what do you reckon then? Loose ATX power cable!? I'm stumped....
